Miller Cemetery

This is the Miller Cemetery it is also called the Crater Cemetery. It is located in Pearl township. This cemetery was walked by W.C and Vivian Lewis April 25, 1975. I have alot of family buried here so we rewalked the cemetery to bring it up to date. It was walked by Jim and Jackie Dreon [my parents] and Teresa Maddox [Me], on March 4,2003 and Apr. 11, 2003. This is a very nice cemetery and well kept, this is a look at the cemetery now. The Surnames that I am related to, are Kassinger , Kasinger , Kessinger, Waggoner and Jackson.

I will start with my family members first. This little cemetery is full of members from both sides.

Eva M.- Leonard

This is my Great Aunt and Uncle. Eva Mertle was born Oct. 19,1904 she shares the birth month and day with her sister Marie. She lived for three months and them passed . My Grandmother said that she was a premature baby. My Great Uncle Leonard was born in 1928 and died at birth. My Grandma told me when she was little that she can remember that day very well. She was around 9 or 10 years old and that an Angel came down upon the house and took her brother to heaven. Leonard also was born on one of the brothers or sisters birth month and day, Grandma told me that Grandma Rhodes knew that Leonard would not live because he was born on one of her other childrens birthday she said God would only let her keep one of the children the other belonged to God.
My Great Grandfather made the grave marker for their grave.

Lilian was the sister of my Great Great Grandmother Fannie Waggoner. She was born in Pike County Illinois on June 1, 1865. Her parents are Jessie Minter Waggoner Jr. and Harriet Adeline Foster. Our family history does not mention that Peter married again when Lilian passed away . The Peter Kessinger buried next to her might be him but just not sure, The date they were born is different but the death date is the same and he shares his grave marker with Alice M. I think they are the same person the dates are just off.

This might be the Brother of my Great Great Grandmother Fannie Waggoner , he is buried in this cemetery and this is the only grave That I could find. The date of his birth is different but the death is the same. His wife Mary is called Martha on the grave maker but the dates of her birth and death are the same.

This is what we have in our family records

William Adam Waggoner born Jan 18, 1859 in Martinsburg IL. He died Dec 23, 1926 in Pike Co. IL.

His wife is Mary Emma Borgat Kessinger she was born Mar 21, 1868 and she died 1907 does not give month or day. She was born in Pearl IL.


This might be their children , these markers are at the bottom of their grave. It just has Waggoner baby on them
Minnie Jane Rhodes is the daughter of William and Lydia Hudson Rhodes. They are my Great Great Grandparents. William, their son is my Great Grandfather so that makes her my Great Great Aunt. Minnie Jane Rhodes Waggoner was born Aug. 26, 1886 in Pike Co. Il. and she passed away May 22, 1962. Henry James Waggoner is the son of Jessie Minter Waggoner and Adaline Harriet Foster Waggoner. They are my Great Great Great Grandparents, Fannie their Daughter is my Great Great Grandmother so that makes him my Great Great Great Uncle. He was born Aug. 1873 and Died in 1956. I was related to both of them before they were married. WOW!
