This is the cemetery that my Mother n Laws mother is buried at. It took awhile to find this place. It had rained all morning and I was not sure if we were even going to look for the cemetery. We drove to Lake Charles anyway and by the time that we got there it had quit raining so I could walk this Cemetery. This cemetery sits way back in the woods next to the bayou. A lot of the graves are anchored to the ground. They are like vaults but they have cables that are strapped across them so they don't go any where when the water comes up. We walked around the cemetery looking for her grave and we did finally find it . While I was taking pictures I stepped in a nest of Fire Ants. For those that don't know what Fire Ants are , let me explain. They are the most hated bug in the South. When you step on their ant hill they climb on you and bite you all at once. It fills like you are on fire!!!! My feet and legs where so messed up, I had blisters all over them. I knew better than just to walk around without looking where I was going but when I go into a cemetery I have only one thing on my mind and its not bugs. I also guess it did not help walking around in the cemetery bare footed either. The cemetery had a lot of water in it and I did not want to get my sandals wet. I look at it this way, they were going to bite me with shoes on or without. My husband was catching craw fish while I was taking pictures. We did have a nice time. Me and the fire ants met again at another cemetery but they did not get me as bad as they did here.

I love the old Oaks that stand guard at the entrance of the cemetery. They are full of spanish moss and ferns.

This Cemetery does flood a lot , there was a lot of standing water when we where there. Some of the graves are decorated with shells , like the one on the left.
